In the event that a roleplay thread actually gets created, this is a rundown on how the battles go in the Half-blood Chronicles.
First, record the combatants' stats for future reference. This includes name, species and LV, and all six stats: HP, Strength, Structure, Agility, Magic, and Resistance. (third column used for stat increases and decreases due to weapon used in battle or for recording stat increases and decreases due to status abilities in the middle of battle)
EX:
Strato Abyss | Dragon, LV 3 | Electric |
HP | 440/440 | 0 |
Strength | 340 | +200 |
Structure | 330 | 0 |
Agility | 440 | 0 |
Magic | 390 | 0 |
Resistance | 380 | 0 |
VERSUS
Grunt | Hallow, LV 3 | ? |
HP | 320 | 0 |
Strength | 210 | 0 |
Structure | 150 | 0 |
Agility | 250 | 0 |
Magic | 100 | 0 |
Resistance | 120 | 0 |
At the start of a battle, the player(s) with the highest Total Agility goes first. In this case, it would be me.
At the start of your turn, your character gains 100 Element Power, or EP for short. This is used to pay for abilities, and can be accumulated throughout the battle.
When it's your turn, you can do four things:
-Use an Ability (as many as your EP will allow)
-Use a Skill (As many as you want)
-Move closer to or away from an ally (only works in battles with multiple players, affects proximity and ability to use Combos(see Combo Tutorial))
-End your turn (self-explanatory XD)
--Using an Ability--
To use an ability, check your EP level and the cost of the Ability you want to use. Obviously, if you don't have enough EP, you can't use that Ability. Next, select a target and log it into the thread. Next, add up the total Attack Strength by adding together the ability's Power with the corresponding stat based on the Kind of attack.
-PH= Physical attack= Power + Strength
-SP= Special attack= Power + Magic
-ST= Status attack= Status attacks don't follow this rule. Since they have no Speed stat, their effect is applied automatically.
Next, add up the total Attack Speed by adding the ability's Speed with your Agility stat. Then compare it to the target's Agility. If the number is equal to or over the target's Agility, the attack hits, and the target takes damage depending on the corresponding defensive stat.
-Structure= overall physical defense. Affects damage taken from Physical abilities.
-Resistance= overall magical defense. Affects damage taken from Special attacks.
If the total Attack Speed is lower than the Agility of the target, the attack misses, and your turn continues.
EX:
Battle Log:
Strato gained 100 EP
Strato used Shock Blade on Grunt! (40 EP)
Attack Strength: 60+540=600
Attack Speed: 80+440=520 vs. 250 Attack Hits!
Grunt's Structure:150 600-150=450
Grunt takes 450 damage! (0/320)
Grunt was defeated!
EX: Status Ability
Strato used Volt Burst! (30 EP)
Strato's Agility is doubled for 3 turns!
Always log the amount of EP you have when starting your turn and after you use an ability. Makes things much easier.
--Using a Skill--
Skills are very powerful, and since you can use as many as you want during your turn, they can open up new and amazing opportunities to destroy the opposition. However, unless the effect dictates otherwise, each Skill can only be used once. So plan wisely on which Skills you want to use and when.
Logging the triggering of a Skill works the same way. Log the name of the Skill you are using and all applied effects. Skills don't have an EP Cost, so there's no need to log EP.
EX:
Strato triggered Dawn of the Dragon!
All of Strato's attacks will hit for 3 turns!
Strato's Dragon-element Abilities' Power is doubled for 3 turns!
When all opponents are defeated, you gain XP (Experience Points for those noobcakes out there) depending on the enemies you faced. See XP Table for more info.
And that's all there is to it! Now get out there and start racking up wins!
